A team that thinks outside the box

Meet the EPD team.

We aren’t your average electrical engineering firm.

Our entire culture is built on our electrical team and their ability to think outside the box in pursuit of excellence. Our team is more of a multi-disciplinary brains trust, here to provide practical and strategic advice and cost-effective bespoke electrical solutions.

glenn Kemp

Managing Director

I started my working career with Telecom and spent 8 years involved with network installation and maintenance.

Needing a new challenge, I started study at EIT Hawke's Bay and an Electrical Apprenticeship at EPD. In 2002 I took on part ownership and in 2007 was made a Director. I concentrate on Heavy industry, Irrigation and Tanning but find myself involved with many interesting projects. I have a love of fishing and the beach.

Marshall Forman

Managing Director

A Hawke's Bay local, born in Napier and attended Colenso High School back in the 80's, Marshall started his electrical apprenticeship in 1985 at Carter Oji Kokusaku Pan Pacific Ltd (Whirinaki Mill). This introduction to industrial process and controls, proved to be valuable experience in his career.

During his apprenticeship, Marshall also represented HB in the NBL.
Working coupled with training and studying meant there was very little spare time during the week. On successful completion and gaining electrical registration, Marshall concentrated on basketball for the next couple of years before heading over to Kazakhstan to help with the build of a Beef and Pig abattoir.

Shortly after in 1992, Marshall moved to Sydney and started working for Electrolux Industrial Laundry Systems as a service technician. The role required both electrical and mechanical skills to keep the machines running. The service area covered the NSW region and Vanuatu. He spent 5 years there moving his way up to NSW State Service Manager.

In 1997, returning to Hawke's Bay, Marshall started working as a Sales Representative for Ideal Electrical Suppliers until returning to the tools, working as a shift electrician at Heinz Watties on the King St site.

Marshall was offered a position at EPD in 2000. In 2002 he was asked to be part of EPD as a shareholder. Seeing this as a great opportunity he quickly reallocated his budget for his upcoming wedding to Rachael later that year. Somehow the wedding went on as planned.

During 2007 Marshall and Glenn Kemp acquired 100% of EPD.
When asked, “How would you sum up your time at EPD”, Marshall’s response. “I have made mistakes, I have been stressed, I have worked hard, I have learnt something every day, but overall I have had a laugh and I hope my laughter has spread to the people I work and deal with each day”.

Brad Mason

Business Development Manager

Dedicated and focused, I have enjoyed the past 20 years working in an industry that has naturally progressed and developed into what it is today. Automation electrical projects, power quality and control are of particular interest to me. I take the work that I do seriously, because I believe that what I do makes a difference in one way, shape or form, in the future. With a strong background in technical service & support, as well as a dedication to QC and staff safety in the workplace, my focus over the past decade has been in developing long lasting relationships with customers, consultants, developers and suppliers, in an otherwise aggressive market.

Long term, sustainable business growth, with a focus on technical improvements to company process, marketing and QC have resulted in a positive and natural evolution of the companies I work with. Implementation of Company policies and procedures, standardisation of product solutions and strengthening of supplier chains open new opportunities and channels to market for me.

After sales support is an important part of my work process, maintaining quality relationships with existing and new clients, ensuring future business opportunities.
